Spring Clinic and Regatta

April 8 – 11, 2021

Join us for the Spring Clinic and Regatta at the St. Thomas Sailing Center in the US Virgin Islands.  The focus is on developing competitive speed on all points of sail.  We utilize specific drills to improve starting, boat handling and mark rounding techniques as well as tactical decision making.  Sign up individually or with your team*.

*Maximum crew per team is 5.  Please call us at 340-690-3681 if you have any questions.
Maximum number of teams is 10.

Clinic Curriculum

The Racing Clinic curriculum has been refined at the St. Thomas Sailing Center to provide an intense and comprehensive learning experience.  The first morning focuses on the details of boat handling and finding more speed in every maneuver.  The afternoon session brings the morning drills onto the race course with an emphasis on boat speed, starts and mark roundings.  The morning of the second day is practice racing with on-course coaching.

Event Format

The event starts with a welcome party on Thursday evening.   Friday is an all-day clinic featuring classroom discussion, on-the-water drills and practice races followed by video review and debrief.  Clinic continues Saturday morning and the regatta begins Saturday afternoon with windward/leeward and short island races.  Sunday the regatta continues in true Caribbean fashion with a lengthy around-the-islands race and awards party to follow.  Stay Monday and enjoy relaxed day-sailing, beach cat sailing, snorkeling and the VI’s exceptional beaches.

STYC Membership

The Spring Clinic & Regatta is hosted at the St. Thomas Yacht Club, home of the St. Thomas International Regatta.  During your stay you will be a member of STYC and part of the sailing community on St. Thomas.  All club facilities, including tennis courts, bar, restaurant are available to you and your guests.

Lunches & Dinners

Included are Thursday buffet dinner, Friday and Saturday lunches and Sunday taco bar.

The IC-24 is a responsive and stable one-design boat conceived on St. Thomas for Caribbean sailing.  A modified J-24, the IC-24 has a large, open cockpit, and is both fun and comfortable to race.  It has a mainsail, jib and symmetrical spinnaker.
